Training and Experience

Sailing is safer with experience and training, and what will be set out here is how to gain both locally.

It also happens that members and prospective members tend to be very interested in boats and sailing and want to push bother their experience and training to new levels.

This page will provide information on how to gain both.

Experience

For those who would like to get some local racing experience etc – this may be just the thing.

Brighton Marina Yacht club makes it possible - and affordable - for everyone to have a go at yacht racing.

Brighton Marine Club Class: Yes - YOU can have a go at yacht racing. In October each year the Class hold open days for anyone interested to join a racing crew.

Training

The RYA formal training takes place all over the place. For the land based theory you cannot beat the courses run by Sussex Yacht Club at Shoreham, and we have members who will testify to the qualify.

Mustangsailing.com RYA Yachtmaster qualifications: Shorebased theory work at at Ringmer and practical sailing out of Hamble in their Bavaria 38 called Thunderbolt.
Do you know your buoys? - do this at home A simple set of tests .. Read the questions very carefully .. Then try the Light sequences.
